K9 Search and Rescue, or K9 SAR for short, was established in April 2024, founded by three experienced search dog-handlers and trainers. K9 SAR is a registered charity (charity number 1210176). We adhere to national search and rescue training and operational standards. From our base in the Conwy Valley, North Wales, the team operates across England and Wales. Team membership is growing; we have open-area search dogs, cadaver search dogs and plan to develop a befriending service.
Open-area air scenting search dogs and handlers – look for live missing persons. Open-area search dogs can cover large areas of often inaccessible land quickly.
Cadaver search dogs and handlers – search for human remains on land and in water, our dogs are also trained bodily fluid detection dogs.
Search technicians and SAR support team – a vital cog, we cannot train our dogs without ‘bodies’ to look for, radio operators and search coordinators. When deployed each dog and handler team depend on a 'second' human who accompanies them.
Befriending and continuity of care service – part of the K9 SAR plan, we recognise the positive impact our dogs have, they literally are lifesavers. To help the healing journey, K9 SAR want to give those we help the opportunity to reunite with the dog and handler teams who helped find them. K9 SAR also has access to a pets as therapy dog.
